So when a user logs onto a 2010 machine who doesn't have an exisitng Outlook profile in their roaming windows profile, cached mode is enabled and works as expected. Inside the OCT it is set to enable cached exchange mode for new and existing profiles. Ideally a reg key policy preference set to run only once would be best. If the user decides to change this setting then theirĬhoice shall not be overwritten by policy of script at second logon. However what we'd like to do is enable a setting in the gpo (either a reg key preference, logon script etc.) to ensure that cached exchange mode is enabled the first time a user logs onto a 2010 machine. We're doing this becuase we don't want 2010 to create a new profile and then lose all of the user's customisations and shared calendar links etc. The OCT that has been created for Office 2010 is set to use theĮxisting Outlook profile and upgrade it to 2010. However, whilst we want to enable cached exchange mode be default, we can't set it in a GPO as we still need to allow certian users to disable this manually (such as those users who hot-desk). We will be deploying Office 2010 to machines in stages and wish to enable cached exchange mode for all users who then use Outlook 2010. Seems to mostly be users that use Shared Calendars a lot and have over 10 or so other calendars in their list.I'm trying to configure Outlook Cached Exchange mode for all users who will get Office 2010 installed. I should mention that not all Outlook 2003 users are having this problem. Has anyone had similar issues? I'm perfectly happy having the users turn Cached mode off until they can upgrade to Outlook 2007 but my manager would like a better solution. Also, one of the users upgraded to Outlook 2007 and no longer has the issue even when operating in Cached mode. If Cached mode is not used, the problem goes away. These users also receive the same message when trying to selecting the Address Book icon from the toolbar. Most of these users have 15-20 shared calendars in their list. If they remove the Calendar and then readd it to the list it will work for a whle, but then will usually have the same problem the very next day. When in Cached Exchange mode, users get error message "The connection to the microsoft exchange server is unavailable" when selecting a Shared Calendar from their Other Calendars list.
